Hazardous materials testing (HAZMAT) can be done prior to demolition, renovations or real estate transactions. Hazmat testing can also be triggered by specific health concerns. We can complete hazmat surveys or individual testing and sampling.

HAZMAT & Radon testing

HAZMAT & Radon testing

HAZMAT Survey

We conduct Hazmat surveys in order to identify and test suspected building materials for the presence/absence of hazardous products throughout a building. Hazmat surveys include assessment of asbestos-containing materials, mould (surface and air sampling), lead in paint, arsenic in brick, PCBs in fluorescent light ballasts, mercury in thermostats and switches, and many others. Testing for individual parameters can also be conducted at the request of the client.

Radon Testing

Radon is an invisible, odourless, radioactive gas formed by the disintegration of radium, a decay product of uranium. Radon gas can migrate through the ground and enter buildings through porous concrete or fractures and cracks. Exposure to radon gas typically occurs in closed areas in public, commercial or residential buildings. The properties in southern Alberta have the potential of exceeding the Health Canada recommended radon guideline of 200 becquerels per cubic meter (200 Bq/m³). We undertake radon testing in commercial and industrial buildings. If radon levels are above the recommended limit, mitigation can be completed fast and inexpensively.

We offer long-term testing in commercial/industrial buildings, schools and other public buildings as well as short-term, real estate testing.
